On December 23, 2014 a meeting was held in the Secretariat Office between representatives of Secretariat of the Consultative Council on Improvement of Investment Climate under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and representatives of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
In this meeting from the side of EBRD in Tajikistan a Head of EBRD Resident Office Mr. Richard Jones, bank stuff – Sobir Aliev, Takhmina Hakimova-Rees, Sitora Bobojonova and Shahnoza Solieva and from the side of Secretariat of the Consultative Council all Secretariat’ stuff attended the meeting.
The Head of EBRD Resident Office in Tajikistan submitted comprehensive information regarding the effective activity and a huge amount of EBRD investment for development of the Tajikistan’s economy, regarding the Bank strategy of activity in 2015, range of issues of representation’s activity on economic reforms and noted that strengthening the works in these directions are purposeful.

Mr. Richard Jones stressed country achievements on implementation of economic reforms and pointed out that Tajikistan has been included to the list of ten top reformer countries in the Doing Business -2015 Report of the World Bank for the third time and has been awarded with Certificate of the best reformer country by the World Bank as well. Regarding this, efforts of Secretariat of the Consultative Council in development and submitting the issues regarding the process of reforms for consideration of Council’ sessions were noted and Secretariat of the Council activity has been highly appreciated.

Also it was noted that European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will further support the activity of the Consultative Council on Improvement of Investment Climate under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan in regard with development of public private dialogue and improvement of investment climate in the country.

Then, the Head of Secretariat of the Consultative Council on Improvement of Investment Climate under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan N. Abdujaborov submitted comprehensive information regarding the implemented reforms in 2014, as well as issues of improvement of investment climate in tourism and insurance sectors, development of secondary market for securities and stock exchange in Tajikistan, ratification of the Hague Convention by Tajikistan, establishment of the Working Group on improvement of investment climate in the sectors of industry, supporting domestic producers and development of national production, starting the activity of the Working Group on improvement of the investment climate in agriculture and development of agribusiness in Tajikistan, conduction of Round Table on December 18, 2014 on reforms’ presentation to the wide representatives of domestic private sector, representatives of state and development partners and Work plan of Secretariat of the Consultative Council in 2015.

Also Head of Secretariat of the Consultative Council on Improvement of Investment Climate thanked EBRD side for their support on process of reforms on improvement of investment climate in the country through activity of Secretariat of the Consultative Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on improvement of investment climate.

In the completion of the meeting counterparts assured regarding the continuation of effective collaborations on improvement of country’s investment and business climate and development of domestic private sector.
