On June 18 of this year, a bilateral meeting between Head of the Secretariat of the Consultative Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on Improvement of Investment Climate Mr. Zavkidjon Zavkiev and Head of the Representation Office of International Finance Corporation in Tajikistan Mr. Christopher Miller was held.

The issue of financing of Acting Plan of the activity of the Working Group on improvement of investment climate in tourism sphere was discussed by the parties during the meeting. The Head of International Finance Cooperation outlined his willingness to provide technical and finance support on 6 directions of improvement of investment climate in tourism sphere : (i) Licensing and Permits (ii)Visa and Registration (iii) Airport(s) and other Border crossing points (iv) Land Borders and Customer Service Training (v) Statistics and Data and (vi) Information).

The Head of Working Group on improvement of investment climate in tourism sphere Mr Zavkidjon Zavkiev has expressed his gratitude and pointed that they would make every effort to ensure that all issues have been resolved and would submit the results to the next Session of Consultative Council. The IFC supported this initiative.

It was noted, with satisfaction, that the parties will continue their fruitful relationships in this sphere.

Also, the issue of conducting and financing of a seminar on “Public Private Dialogue in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan” was reviewed during the bilateral meeting. As a result of discussion, the International Finance Corporation made commitment to provide a finance support. The date of conduction of a seminar would be determined next month.
