The sixth meeting of the Consultative Council on Improvement of Investment and Business Climate in Rasht Valley was held in Lakhsh district.
Prior to the meeting, the Information and Consulting Center for Youth Entrepreneurship was opened, as well as agricultural motoblocks were provided to the Association of Dehkan Farms "Samar" in Lakhsh district. The main objective of these projects is to create jobs, provide business advisory services and agricultural development for young people. These projects are implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program in Tajikistan.
The meeting was attended by the Management of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management, the Secretariat of the Consultative Council on Improvement of Investment Climate under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, deputy chairmen, members of the Consultative Council of Rasht valley, as well as executive secretaries and council members of Rasht region, private sector representatives and the development partners.
It was noted that the regular visits and meetings of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in the Rasht Valley reflect the special attention of the Leader of the Nation to the economic and social development of Rasht valley. In the course of these successful and constructive visits, a number of facilities of various purposes have been built and put into operation by the hardworking people of Rasht valley with the support of the constructive policy of the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon and the Government.
The meeting discussed issues of investment and entrepreneurship opportunities in Rasht valley and increasing its’ capacity, proposals for the draft Program of State Support and Private Sector Development in the Republic of Tajikistan for years 2021-2030, opportunities for product development and value chain growth in Rasht valley and other issues related to business development, problems of the sector and their solutions in the region.
Participants discussed supporting the private sector, utilizing the existing conditions and opportunities for development of the Rasht region, strengthening the activities of the Regional Consultative Councils on entrepreneurship and investment, the contribution of entrepreneurs to the prosperity of the country, creating new jobs and improving the welfare of the people.
Sectors of fruit and vegetable processing, processing of industrial raw materials, including marble, coal, limestone powder, crushed gold, construction of small poultry farms, fish farming, beekeeping, collection and packaging of dried fruits and herbs, processing of animal skins and wool, and folk handicrafts were selected as a priority areas in the region.
