Today, the second intersession meeting of the Consultative Council on Improvement of Investment Climate under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan was held under the leadership of the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Davlatali Said. Members of the Consultative Council, heads and officials of relevant ministries and agencies, development partners and invited guests attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed the preparation of a draft analysis and recommendations for improving the investment climate in the field of information and communication technologies, as well as analysis of the current state in the industry and identification of new opportunities for increasing industrial capacity.
It was noted that on the initiative of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, October 14 is declared as the Day of Entrepreneurs and is celebrated in a special manner every year. This year holding of various events was limited due to the global pandemic and it was decided to hold the second intersession meeting of the Consultative Council on Improvement of Investment Climate under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Round Table on “Entrepreneurship and Investment as a Basis for Economic Development”.
Faizullozoda Zarobiddin - Minister of Industry and New Technologies, and Ilhom Atoev - Deputy Head of the Communications Service delivered reports on the main topics of the meeting. In addition, Jan Peter Olters - Permanent Representative of the World Bank in Tajikistan, Sezin Sinanoglu – UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan, Pratibha Mehta - UNDP Resident Representative in Tajikistan, Dilshod Jurazoda-Director of SE Tajikistan Entrepreneurship Establishment and Development, Abdullo Kurbonov - Founder and Chairman of Alif Bank OJSC, Bozorali Odina - Private Sector Representative in the Council, Chairman of Kulob Milk Factory, delivered brief presentations at the meeting.
The First Deputy Prime Minister noted that the development of information and communication technologies and the transition to a digital economy is one of the important issues of economic policy of the country, and its widespread use is becoming increasingly important in the current prevalence of the coronavirus pandemic. Within the framework of the fourth strategic goal - rapid industrialization of the country, study of the current state of industry and identification of new opportunities to increase the capacity of the sector, including light industry, production of construction materials, processing of agricultural products, and mining and on this basis the development of national production are considered important topics.
At the end of the meeting, taking into account the comments and suggestions, relevant instructions were given to the respective parties.
