On November 18, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the Symposium following EXPO-2022 - Women's Entrepreneurship Development, hold in the framework of instructions of the Founder of National Peace and Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, dedicated to the International Day of Women Entrepreneurs. The event is initiated by the State Committee for Investment and State Property Management of the Republic Tajikistan and the Secretariat of the Advisory Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on improving the investment climate together with the Committee on Women and the Family Affairs under the Government of Republic of Tajikistan with support of the UN Women Office in Tajikistan and the UN Development Program Office in Tajikistan, with the involvement of a wide range of representatives of relevant ministries and departments, business associations, the private sector, development partners, experts and media representatives.
The event was officially launched with the opening speech by Matlubakhon Sattoriyon - Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sumangul Tagoizoda - Chairman of the Committee of the Majlisi Namoyandagoni Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan on Social Issues, Family and Health Protection, Khilolbi Qurbonzoda - Chairman of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Aziza Hamidova – Country Programme Manager of the UN Women in Tajikistan and Lenny Montiel – UNDP Country Representative in Tajikistan.
The purpose of the symposium is, first of all, to present the existing opportunities and plans for the future for women, youth and people with disabilities, to provide information related to the development of new financial instruments, training and the exchange of international experience in order to create opportunities for promoting entrepreneurship, displaying products and services of Tajik women entrepreneurs, presentations and business ideas, including innovative ideas and initiatives in the regions, discussion and ways to overcome problems and obstacles in these areas.
As noted at the symposium, the Government of the country, with the direct support and special attention of the Founder of National Peace and Unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, has implemented several effective reforms in various sectors of the economy that directly benefit women entrepreneurs in terms of promotion and contribute to development business activity throughout the country.
At the end of the official part of the symposium, awards were presented to several active women entrepreneurs who made a significant contribution to the development of the country's socio-economic sphere.
Further, the work of the Symposium followed by in the framework of separate sections on the topics "Business activity of Tajik women: current state and development prospects", "Development of social entrepreneurship and the contribution of people with disabilities to the development of the country's economy", "Women's entrepreneurship at the stage of transformation" and "Women's entrepreneurship: achievement and overcoming obstacles.
In the final part of the Symposium, the reports of the panel moderators were heard, recommendations, questions and answers were suggested, and the views exchanging were proposed among the forum participants.
