Meeting with the of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Mission

On the second half of the day, the Head of the Secretariat of Consultative Council on Improvement of Investment Climate under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Yusufzoda Farrukh met with the representatives of the EBRD’s mission under the headship of Leading Regional Economist for the Central Asia, Mr. Eric Livny.

During the meeting prospects of the ITC development, particularly strengthening e-government services, plans for setting up technological parks, and AI development in the country in the framework of the Council’s activities were widely discussed.

Head of the Secretariat of Consultative Council Mr. Yusufzoda Farrukh informed the Mission that as part of the Council’s functional activities until today there are several instructions and orders were given to the ministries and agencies for the strengthening of the digital services, especially modernization of services, provision of high-quality government/public services to the population and entrepreneurs, e-commerce development, cashless settlements/payments, ensuring speed and quality internet, strengthening legislative framework and creation of IT parks.

Particularly, based on the Protocol of the Session of the Consultative Council (XXI) on 25th of February 2021 and the Session of Consultative Council (XXII) from 16th of March 2022, the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On E-Commerce” and the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On IT Parks” have undergone amendments and adoptions.

Similarly, it was mentioned that for the digitalization of the economy and AI development in the country, the strategy and programs are developed and currently under implementation.

It was mentioned that in the XXIII Session of the Consultative Council from the 28th of November 2023, it is instructed that within a Working group, the process of digitalization of government services for the entrepreneurs and investors should be analyzed, and the results of the study to be presented during the next meeting of the Council. Currently, the working group is established and the work is in progress in this regard.

Representatives of the EBRD have mentioned that cooperation of the EBRD with Tajikistan is launched in various sectors, while joint activities for strengthening, e-service provision, IT parks creation, and other related fields seem to be mutually reasonable.

The Head of the Secretariat of Consultative Council on Improvement of Investment Climate under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Yusufzoda Farrukh has expressed the secretariat’s willingness to strengthen cooperation and called the EBRD’s representatives for the deepening cooperation on the above areas.
